What exactly is the point of this?

I've been talking to this guy for a very long time. He is really sweet, cute, smart and determined and in saying that we're both going through a busy year at the moment due to university. We plan to meet up and we talk every single night for hours. He told me he had fallen for me and because he was doing the HSC that year he was ignoring me (didn't want a distraction). So does he want a relationship? (Love him) Or am I just stuck in the friend zone? (Lose him)

    He's only clinging to you as a "back-up". Sometimes women can do the same if they afraid of being lonely. If a man really wants you, he goes to all efforts. Don't be second best!

    Men use that line all the time....distractions, too busy, not looking for a relationship...... If a guy wants you, he'll let you know by taking you out, getting to know you and giving up his time for you, no matter what is going on in his life. So stop wasting your time on this guy, cause mr amazing is waiting.
