The thought of traipsing around a bridal expo with a zillion other brides-to-be used to fill me with dread. Planning a wedding is overwhelming enough without spending an entire day in a hot and stuffy hall bumper-to-bumper with hoards of people, and there are just so many stalls to see. Each one draws you in and before you know it, it’s lunch time and you’ve only seen a third of Hall One (and there’s four of them!). At least, this is how I felt until recently when I went along to One Fine Day wedding fair at Sun Studios in Sydney. It was a breath of fresh air!
The organisers had created a beautiful wedding wonderland with the help of stylists, floral designers, cake decorators, photographers, entertainers, dress designers, milliners and a helluva lot more. The focus wasn’t on any particular trend, it was all about harnessing your own sense of style and transforming your ideas into the day of your dreams with the help of the best vendors Sydney has to offer (there were also a few Brisbane and Melbourne-based vendors too).
I particularly enjoyed my artisan nectarine and rose ice pop courtesy of Liana Raine (lianaraine.com), which was handed to me as I walked in, not to mention the homemade cookies dished out by many of the vendors. Heaven! And an absolute highlight for me was seeing all the gorgeous floral displays and, last but not least, the stunning wedding dresses that were modelled on the day.
Stay tuned for the next One Fine Day fair (onefineday.com).
