Yoga tricks to help you climax

New research shows that yoga can heighten arousal…and make it easier to orgasm. With our tips, you can skip the class and go straight to bed.

Yoga’s not your thing? Okay, what about toe-curling orgasms? Thought so. Well, it turns out that cribbing a few yoga skills may guarantee those. Women who practice such techniques as mindfulness are turned on more easily, according to the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Here are three simple yoga moves to steal for ultimate satisfaction.

The 4-second breath trick
Take any yoga class and the teacher will say to ‘focus on your breath’. Inhaling and exhaling seems basic, and yet many of us breathe unevenly. “The steadier your breath, the better your body can relax,” says yoga instructor Garvey Rich, co-author of Better Sex Through Yoga.

Zen stuff aside, this technique will make it easier to orgasm. One reason women fail to climax is that they tense up and hold their breath, says Jeanmarie Paolillo, an instructor at Yoga Works in New York City. Yoga-style breathing not only prevents tension from short-circuiting your orgasm, but it also delivers oxygen down there, making it easier for you to go over the edge. All you have to do, says Rich, is inhale and exhale evenly – try two seconds in, two seconds out – as you feel yourself starting to reach your peak. This is key, since a shallow breath increases anxiety which causes unsteady breathing, creating an orgasm-killing cycle that makes it damn near impossible to let go.

Focus is everything

Nothing snuffs an orgasm faster than wondering whether you unplugged your hair straightener. To get back in the moment, try centering. Yoga instructors often tell students to focus on a spot on the wall or floor to help them balance. The idea is that if you’re tuned into one thing, your mind will be free of the distractions that typically throw you off. You can do the same thing in bed too, says Paolillo. It doesn’t matter what spot you choose – it could be an object in the room or a freckle on your guy – just keep your focus there as the sensations build. You don’t need to have your eyes open the entire time (that would feel weird) but focusing  on one spot initially will get you in the zone.

Yoga-ise your go-position
Yoga postures not only look hot, but they also relax the muscles in your groin area, priming your body for sex, says Rich. You can tweak your favourite position to get the benefits.

If you’re in missionary, put your legs over his shoulders so your calves rest on his back – a variation of the happy baby pose. During girl-on-top, straddle him with your knees on the bed and grab your ankles to mimic the camel..for doggie-style, have sex in downward dog (touch the floor so your body makes an inverted V) Then relax and go with the flow.
