There must be something in the water...

What's happening, Hollywood? Everytime we flip open a gossip rag, we find another pregnant star - and what's even more unusual is that more and more are younger and younger.

Last month, Jamie-Lynn Spears had her first child - at 17. Her sister Britney had her first baby when she was 23, and there are countless others like them. It strikes a chord with us simply because these stars are visibly bucking the trend - the average age for first-time mums (in Australia) is 28 years. And though older stars like Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman are also getting sprogged up, they're clearly in the minority.

So...what do you guys think of the Hollywood 'young mum' trend?

I really don't think most of them are in the "young" mum group. 23-28 isn't that young to be having babies. 17, however, is a bit young. I think I am a young mum at 20, but not too young. I guess it really does depend on maturity.  Report thisReport this

Unlike normal people celebs can once again get away with something which most people can not! A baby seams extremely easy - just a couple of weeks after birth, the mothers have some how lost all their baby weight, their back at work and they have handed their baby off to someone else who will look after! Ever stopped to think about the psychological damage this horrible trend will have on the offspring. Unlike and Louis Vuitton handbag, a baby is here to stay!  Report thisReport this

I agree with KatV, 23-27 is hardly a young mum. Younger maybe..but I think its a good time to start. gets harder with age. Lauren - pretty sure the article was about the age of the mothers, not losing baby weight or palming children off to carers. I dont think its entirely fair to lump all celebrities into the same stereotype.  Report thisReport this

I think anything above 25 isn't too young to be having kids... under 24 its abit of a different story in my eyes. Then you have to think of how mature the women are. People like Britney, Jamie-Lynn i think had kids for the wrong reasons but then Reese Witherspoon & Kate Hudson seem much more mature than other hollywood actresses having babies around 23/24. You have to then think, growing up in Hollywood, most girls grow up way too fast so having a baby might seem like the next thing to do.  Report thisReport this

This is silly. apart from the 17 year old they others are all old enough to have children. who wants to be a nanna mum? if you have a child when your 40, by the time your child is 15 you will be 55... ready for a pension and no time for grandchildren  Report thisReport this
