The Met Gala is hands down the best event of the year, because unlike all the snoozy awards shows, celebs goes all the way out for their head-to-toe looks, and this year was no different.

Case in point: Hailey Baldwin, who arrived on the red carpet with Shawn Mendes, debuting a dreamy pink hair. Her colourist Ryan Pearl told Cosmopolitan US that her team, which included hairstylist Jen Atkin, decided on the pastel pink shade because it perfectly complemented her skin tone and gown.

But how exactly did he achieve such a heavenly hue? Ryan says, "I first did a highlight on her to brighten up her blonde, and then went in with a mixture of Redken City Beats [colourants] for a pink with a splash of peach finish."

~Dyeing~ for your colourist to hook you up with the same look? Ryan says he first mixed the shades "City Ballet Pink" ($17 at Amazon) and "Chelsea Coral," ($17 at Amazon) and diluted it with Redken's "Clear" shade ($17 at Amazon). Then, he applied the combo and let it sit for 10 minutes before washing out.

The fun part about using a dye like this is that it washes out in a few weeks if you don't want to commit, and continues to get more and more pastel with every shampoo, Ryan adds.
