Demi Lovato is awake and with family after being hospitalised for an apparent drug overdose that's prompted an outpouring of support from celebrity friends and fans.

The singer is in a stable condition after being treated with Narcan, an emergency medication to reverse the effects of a drug overdose, a source told People.

A rep for Demi told TMZ: "Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy."

Her aunt, Kerissa Dunn, also posted on social media that Demi is "awake and responsive".

The 25-year-old Disney star was allegedly found unconscious in her Hollywood home on Wednesday (Tuesday US time).

TMZ reported it was a heroin overdose that landed Demi in hospital, but the star and her management are yet to confirm this.

Demi has been open in the past about her battles with addiction and mental health, releasing a very honest insight into her life in her recent documentary, Simply Complicated.

However, many fans believed that Demi was managing her struggles brilliantly after she celebrated six years of sobriety back in March. That being said, the singer released a chilling new single called "Sober" where she seemingly recalled a relapse, with lyrics blatantly saying, "I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore".
