He’s the One Direction star that every girl has a crush on (whether she admits it or not), but sorry ladies there’s a rumour spreading that Harry Styles might be gay or bisexual. Did you hear that? It’s the sound of a million girls’ hearts breaking in unison. The 19-year-old boy band star has been seen out and about with openly gay BBC Radio breakfast host Nick Grimshaw (pictured above left), and the pair are rumoured to be dating. So is it true?
You can relax, ladies…Harry has confirmed that he’s not gay. In fact, he didn’t even know about the rumours. He told GQ magazine, “We're not dating, no. We're just friends. Bisexual? Me? I don't think so… I'm pretty sure I'm not." Hold on, “pretty sure” he’s not bisexual? Hmm, we’re going to say the jury’s out on this one.
The speculation all began when Harry and Nick were seen wearing each other’s clothes after spending nights out together in London. Adding fuel to the fire the pair also pulled an all-nighter after this year’s BRIT Awards and then both rocked up for Nick’s morning radio show the next day.
Harry also dispelled the rumours that he and bandmate Louis Tomlinson are secret lovers (Twitter users have dubbed the supposed relationship “Larry Stylinson”) and said that the constant speculation about his sexuality makes relationships with girls complicated. “You get into a place where you really like someone and then things are being written in the papers that affect them and how they see you. Then it can get annoying.
“Some of them are funny. Some of them are ridiculous. Some of them are annoying. I never like it when a celebrity goes on Twitter and says, 'This isn't true!' It is what it is; I tend not to do that," said Harry when explaining why he doesn’t defend himself more often.
The pop-star has dated Taylor Swift (who can forget those pictures in Central Park?) and has been romantically linked to Cara Delevingne and Emily Atack. Considering Harry’s so young, he might not have even made up his mind about his sexuality yet so we reckon that everyone should back off and let him be. After all, what difference does it make whether he’s gay, straight or bi?
And it seems that staunch One Direction fans agree with us. The 1D boys have all appeared on their own GQ UK September issue cover, and Harry’s is accompanied by the coverline, “He's Up All Night To Get Lucky.” Angry fans took to Twitter and GQ’s website to complain about the mag’s unfair “ladies man” portrayal of Harry, so much so that the site crashed under pressure!
And as the below Tweets show, you don’t want to mess with One Direction fans…
