Justin Bieber was asked if Hailey Baldwin is pregnant and he didn't take it well

The Biebs laid down the law.

When Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged after only a month of dating, it was hard not to ask, "why the rush?"

Speculation has been rife that Hailey, 21, is pregnant, because people reckon that could be the only legitimate reason for such a whirlwind romance. What about pure tru luv, you cynics?

Anyway, a paparazzo in Los Angeles followed Justin to a coffee shop and straight-up asked him if they were expecting.

"Hey Justin, is Hailey pregnant right now?" he asked, "You stated you guys were family, so everybody is thinking that she might be pregnant, can you speak on that?"

The singer actually remained impressively calm, but make no mistake, he wasn't having a bar of this pregnancy speculation.

"What's your deal, bro?" he said to the pap, getting right up in his grill.

"You just seem too, like, you just seem too normal to be doing this job …

"Really?" the pap responded, in a hilariously hopeful tone that implied he was thrilled Justin Bieber thought he might have prospects.

"I think so," Justin replied, "I just don't understand why you gotta try to get a rise, you know what I'm saying?"

The pap then tried to reason with him, to which Justin just repeatedly said, "brother man, brother man, brother man," in an effort to discourage him.

You can see the showdown below:

We've all learned a few things today:

  1. The reasons people get engaged are wide and varied and none of your business.
  2. Don't mess with Justin Bieber, especially before he's had his coffee fix.
  3. 'Brother man' is the ultimate negotiation term and also possibly a form of mind control.
