Celebrity juice

If you ain’t sucking on a straw, then you just ain’t A-list. See the juices that will make you hotter…

Move over, Starbucks: the accessory to be papped with now is something big, colourful and healthy. We never believed skinny celebs had a caramel macchiato in there anyway, so we welcome this healthy new honesty. Here are some juicy recipes Cosmo’s loving right now. So much more palatable than a plate of kale!

Best for skin

1 tbsp raw beetroot

3 blackberries

10 blueberries

½ avocado

Sprig of mint

⅓ of an apple

6 red grapes

Beetroot is packed with antioxidants (great for skin-cell renewal). Raw beetroot is high in folate, which you need to protect your cells from damage.

Best for hair

1 cucumber

Handful of spinach

2 apples

Handful of almonds

1 shot of wheatgrass

Cucumber is a source of pantothenic acid, which aids hair growth; spinach has beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant for healthy hair; and almonds are rich in biotin, which can help your hair grow faster.

Best for juice newbies

3 carrots

Thumb-size piece
of fresh ginger

1 peeled orange

1 peeled lemon

This is a great one to start with to wean yourself off pure fruit juice – the orange gives it a touch of sweetness but the carrots and lemon make it healthier. The ginger adds a warm buzz, too.

Which juicer?

Juicers are pricey, but worth it when you work out the cost per juice. Try the Breville Juice Fountain Max (RRP $229.95). It has a wide chute so you don’t have to chop so much.
