OPINION: ‘Married At First Sight Australia’ seems to have let a sexist arsehole onto the show

I do NOT.

We've been hyping ourselves up for the next season of Married At First Sight Australia, not-so-patiently awaiting the arrival of the brides and grooms and craving to see the oh-so awkward wedding ceremonies where two complete randos get hitched in front of both of their very uncomfortable families.

And while we can't deny that we love a bit of ~drama~ between the brides and grooms in the show, we think that the producers may have taken things a bit too far by recruiting a fella who seems to be stuck in the 1930s.

New contestant 'Dean' has been revealed in a preview for the new season, and in his clip he says some seriously controversial comments that make us rather concerned for his bride-to-be.

Here are just a few of the things he said in his little promo. (Warning: The feminist within you may bubble up big time and explode all over the patriarchy.)

He also had some commentary on gender roles, and how Australia has lost its traditional set up where the man is in charge and the woman is, we guess, tied to the kitchen sink?

If you just vomited in your mouth a little bit, you're not alone.

Married At First Sight's Dean

Honestly, we are not happy with that fact that this roach of a bloke is going to be paired up with a poor, unassuming lady who has zero idea that he is a grade-A arsehole. Hopefully she kicks him to the curb before the honeymoon, where his shithouse ways will surely come to light.

We know that we are judging him off a (probably heavily edited) clip, and we can hope that perhaps he isn't that bad and he doesn't understand what he's saying etc etc, but on face value we can't tolerate this kind of sexist attitude that believes men are ranked higher than women. It's just not on, and it's an incredibly dangerous mindset to have and spread on national television.
