If you love Riverdale more than life itself, you'll be delighted to know that your favourite series from the Town With Pep just got confirmed for its third season.

The glorious news comes from Skeet Ulrich (the actor playing FP Jones) who announced at RiverCon Paris that Riverdale season three is DEFINITELY HAPPENING, Deadline reports.

Naturally, Twitter went into complete hysteria over the news and, tbh, same.

With filming not set to start until July 2018, it's going to be a while until all the juicy deets start leaking about the season, but here's everything we know so far:

When is the Riverdale season 3 release date?

An official season 3 release date has just been announced, with the next installment from the Town with Pep set to drop on Wednesday 10th October 2018 American time, Entertainment Weekly reports, which will probably mean it'll be the usual Thursday time slot for us Aussies on 11th October, 2018.

Plot predictions for Riverdale season 3

One of the major plot lines set to be developed in Riverdale season 3 is that of the Black Hood's real identity. We're expected to have a few more leads on the matter and the end of season 2, with the final person revealed probs at the beginning of season 3.

Bughead are expected to have a whole heap of adorable couple moments yet to come. Who knows wtf is gonna happen with Varchie and, honestly, we're most excited to see more of Cheryl and Toni's relationship.

While there's still skepticism over whether the Sabrina The Teenage Witch remake will merge with the Riverdale universe, we're crossing our fingers and toes that it does in this next season.

How many episodes will be in Riverdale season 3?

Given the overwhelming success of season 2, which has 22 episodes, chances are the producers will be using a similar number for season 3.

Who will be in Riverdale season 3?

Of course, the OG Riverdale squad is expected to return for season 3, with KJ Apa (Archie Andrews), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones) and Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) all set to star once again.

Ashleigh Murray (Josie McCoy), Casey Cott (Kevin Keller) and Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) and Vanessa Morgan (Toni Topaz) are also expected to make a comeback.

As for the parents, Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones), Luke Perry (Fred Andrews), Molly Ringwold (Mary Andrews), Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge), Mark Consuelos (Hiram Lodge), Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper), Lochlyn Munro (Hal Cooper) and Nathalie Boltt (Penelope Blossom) will hopefully all make a comeback.
