A trailer for 'Stranger Things' season 3 is here and it's bizarre

Steve Harrington's hair has a starring role.

We're still a way off from seeing Stranger Things season three, but that hasn't stopped Netflix from dangling teasers in our face like they own us (which, let's be real, they kind of do).

A short and sweet trailer for the upcoming season has arrived online, and it's essentially a retro ad for The Starcourt Mall, a new retail hub coming to Hawkins, Indiana.

Except, as with everything in this show, there's something not quite right about it all.

Watch the full thing below:

Weird, right? For starters, there are no cast members in the trailer except for Steve Harrington, who apparently works at the mall's ice cream shop, Scoops Ahoy!, and must wear an adorable sailor's outfit and jaunty hat over his lustrous mane.

Steve looks a little, well, frazzled to be there.

Steve, you ok buddy?

That unfamiliar face you see next to him is new character Robin, played by Maya Hawke, who is the talented offspring of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman.

The other weird thing is that the ad describes Hawkins as, "a shining example of the American dream". Um, hello, does the word 'Demogorgon' mean nothing to you?

Ain't nobody dreaming about that shit.

The rest of the clip has that eerie retro Americana vibe that Stranger Things does so well and it's already got fans pondering whether this new mall could be another gate to the Upside Down.

That, or it's the government's attempt to cover up all the dark stuff that went down last season with some shiny retail therapy.

Other fans are just obsessing over Steve and his strong resemblance to a sassy suburban mother of five, following his incredible parenting performance in season two in which he literally out-mom'd Joyce Byers.

Pair this whack trailer with Eleven's ~unusual~ new look and it looks like Stranger Things season three is going to be wild.

RIP Barb.
