Ever since Taylor Swift shook humankind to its very core with her new single "Look What You Made Me Do," the world is having a field day with the the ~drama~ of it all. Records have been set, celebrities have spoofed it, Twitter had a meltdown, or five... there's just a lot going on here, okay? Sleuthing fans have even drawn comparisons between the not-so-subtle likeness of the music video to other music industry tycoons like Beyoncé—and they aren't wrong.
But just in case you're still having mixed feelings about whether or not the song is a true bop, allow me to open up your mind a little bit. College student Andy Wu, AKA AnDyWuMUSICLAND on YouTube, took it upon himself to upgrade "LWYMMD" by remixing it with Britney Spears' 2003 hit "Toxic." And you guys... it's damn good.
Wu combined Taylor's singing with "Toxic" as the backtrack and somehow, it actually fits together. When you listen to the video with your eyes closed, it almost sounds like what "Look What You Made Me Do" should be. Almost.
If you couldn't quite put your finger on what the OG version of "LWYMMD" reminded you of, now you know. You're welcome, friends. (But seriously, can this be a bonus track on the deluxe version of Reputation? Just wondering.) Thanks to this remix, I might actually be able to get down to this new ~white walker~ version of Taylor.
