TRIGGER WARNING: This story contains themes some readers may find upsetting.

Following Demi Lovato's tragic hospitalisation over an alleged drug overdose and her subsequent move to rehab to recover, one of the singer's close friends and backup dancer has spoken out about the whole palava.

Dani Vitale shared a lengthy note post on Instagram denying claims that she was the one who gave Demi drugs and explaining what had happened to her after the media made this damaging assumption.

"I have never TOUCHED nor even SEEN a drug in my entire life. I DO NOT DO DRUGS, nor would I ever encourage, or supply them to anyone I love," Dani wrote in the post, which you can read in full below.

She seems super frustrated with the way the story has been dragged through the media, and she's now dealing with the consequences of the coverage in her professional career. She explains:

Her emotional outpouring follows a caring note she shared when news first broke of Demi's overdose, where she stated she was not with Demi when the incident happened but she has "nothing but love in my heart for her".

Scrolling through Dani's Instagram account, it's clear to see that the backup dancer loved working with Demi and being a part of her Tell Me You Love Me tour — often sharing pictures, videos and boomerangs of herself with the singer.
