There’s no rest for the wicked when it comes to The Bachelor season — and in this case, the wicked are those of us who are obsessed with this show.
Straight after Matty J revealed he’d found love with Laura Byrne on The Bachelor, we launched right into Sophie Monk’s season of The Bachelorette. You’d think there would be rose ceremony fatigue, but no — here we are, more pumped than ever.
Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s series of The Bachelorette.
Who is the 2017 Bachelorette?
Australia’s Bachelorette this year is Sophie Monk. This is a big deal, 'cos she’s the first celebrity Bachelor or Bachelorette in any international franchise (it doesn’t count when former contestants get cast in the role, because they’re not the same kind of celebrity).
Sophie’s been open about the fact that she’s the one who approached Channel Ten and Warner Bros. about the role — not the other way around — and that she actually had to convince them to let her be the Bachelorette, and prove she was in it for the right reasons.
Aussies have been familiar with Soph for years. She’s worked in the entertainment industry for most of her life, but became a public figure when she was on the reality show Popstars, and scored a part in the girl band Bardot. (Remember “Poison”? What a tune.)
Since then, Soph’s had a few gigs here and there, and appeared on reality shows like The Celebrity Apprentice. She lived in L.A. for a few years, too, where she dated Hollywood types like Benji Madden (they were engaged) and Sam Worthington.
Soph was a good choice — the first episode of The Bachelorette was the highest-rated premiere in the show’s history in Australia! And everyone just loves her because she’s a bloody legend.
When is 'The Bachelorette' on TV?
The Bachelorette airs on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm on Channel Ten.
When will 'The Bachelorette' finale be held?
A finale date for Sophie’s season hasn’t been revealed, but in the past, The Bachelorette has run for a shorter amount of time than The Bachelor on TV. Sam Frost’s season went for about five weeks, and Georgia Love’s season ran for six weeks. Maybe Sophie’s will run for seven? In any case, it will probably be sometime in October.
The finale for The Bachelorette will air on Thursday, October 26! (It feels like this season has flown.) This is when Sophie will finally reveal which man has finally won her heart.
Who is the host of 'The Bachelorette'?
Good ol’ Osher Günsberg is still the man handing out the date cards on The Bachelorette. TBH, we couldn’t imagine an Australian series without him (or his hair) now.
Who are the contestants on 'The Bachelorette'?
Sophie met 18 single men in the season’s first episode, including vineyard worker Jarrod Woodgate, god-like magician Apollo Jackson, and cheeky voiceover artist Sam Cochrane. Interestingly, most of them were younger than Soph, who’s 37.
But there’s huge speculation that there will be intruders this season, especially since Sophie lets go of three men in one episode.
Who wins 'The Bachelorette'?
Ha! As if we’d tell you. And we don’t actually know — the winners of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are pretty much the two biggest secrets Channel Ten tries to keep all year. However, there’s always speculation, and the buzz around Sophie’s chosen man is that it’s — gasp! — one of the intruders!
Several media outlets have reported that Sophie chooses 44-year-old divorced hotel heir Stu Laundy, who has four daughters with his ex-wife.
There are even reports that Sophie marries her chosen man in the finale!
We’ll have to wait and see.
What's new on this season of 'The Bachelorette'?
In the first episode, Osher revealed to the men that Sophie would give one of them the brand new double delight rose, which would give its recipient two single dates with the Bachelorette. After his ~nudie run~ at the cocktail party, Sophie decided to give the double delight rose to Sam.
What are the social media accounts for 'The Bachelorette'?
Does Sophie find love at the end?
It’s a big fat YES to that. Sophie has said that the biggest surprise of doing the show for her was that “it works,” and that she is completely in love with the man she’s picked.
