ICYMI, summer is on its way and we couldn't be more keen. Cue: late-arvo beach drinks, chilled-out work wear, and juicy, juicy mangoes (srsly tho) – everything is better in summer.
But with extra exposure to the sun and surf, our hair can need a little TLC to ace that A-grade gloss. And no-one knows it better than the celebs. With #glamsquads and hair stylists on speed-dial, the A-listers have their summer hair hacks fine-tuned.
Here's to a summer of hella hot hair.
1. Gigi Hadid
With sun-kissed skin, a killer set of abs and tousled blonde mane, the beach-babe look comes naturally for the California-born super. But even Gigi has a few beauty hacks hidden up her sleeve:
"Being on the beach all the time gave me my original highlights, but I get some balayage highlights on top so then when it grows out you can’t tell it's been coloured," she told Into The Gloss. "It’s definitely LA, balayage. It’s a low-maintenance way to be blonde."
2. Anna Heinrich
WARNING: stalking Anna Heinrich on Insta can result in serious hair envy. Sharing seaside snaps from Santorini to Bondi, the OG winner of Aussie Bachelor rocks loose-wave locks as well as she does a red-carpet up-do. So what's her secret?
With hair being three times more exposed to UV rays than skin* (yep – crazy), Anna makes sure she's protecting her locks from the harsh summer sun. Anna uses Pantene's 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner which locks in moisture and fills hair with antioxidants to resist UV damage.
3. Kendall Jenner
How does Kenny get that luxe yet lived-in look? "Showering before bed, then sleeping with wet hair," the model tells Glamour. "When you wake up, it has that bumpy look to it. I love that." TY for being so low-key cool, Kendall.
4. Selena Gomez
World tours, awards shows and date nights with the new beau means Selena's silky strands are continually being styled and re-worked. Selena also knows the importance of giving her hair extra protection during the summer months. So how does the singer keep her hair strong and healthy?
"In summer, I am in the water more," Selena say. "So it’s important to work Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner into my regimen."
5. Taylor Hill
Ever wonder how VS model Taylor Hill keeps her beachy runway waves so silky smooth?
"Curly hair is naturally drier than straight hair," Taylor explain to US Vogue. "So shea butter leave-in conditioner gives me nice waves and takes out any frizz."
6. Bella Hadid
Topknots and buns are a summer hair-style staple. But with the Aussie humidity doing its thang, pesky AF fly-aways can prove hard to tame. Bella Hadid's jet-setting life as an in-demand supermodel involves year-round vacays in Saint-Tropez and Santorini, where she's spent time tackling topknot troubles.
“My brother’s hair gel is perfect for a slicked-back bun. I always steal it from him—I don’t even think he knows," Bella tels US Vogue. "It’s super-goopy and gross, but once you use it on your hair, it’s amazing.”
7. Ashley Benson
The PLL star is a big believer in a good hair mask.
"I’ll wet my hair and put a mask in it and leave it in a bun all day long—like, all day—sleep in it, and then wash it out the next day," Ashley tells Allure magazine. "My hair just feels so smooth. I’m a true believer in hair masks."
8. Lili Reinhart
Riverale's Betty Cooper loves herself a high pony, and so too does her real-life counterpart. Lili Reinhart is a fan of outta-tha-way summer hair-styling, and leaves heat to a minimum.
"I literally throw it up in a messy bun and have a conditioning cream in it all the time," she tells Teen Vogue. "So unless I’m on set or going to an event, I don’t touch my hair with any heat.
9. Romee Strijd
The Dutch VS model knows how to work that textured summer beach 'do. Her tip? Fake it.
"Volume is really important," she says. "I like to blowdry my hair, and then afterwards I put in a bun without the elastic. I just take one hair, and wrap it around [the bun]. I leave it up for an hour or so, and then I let it down. Done!
10. Lauren Conrad
LBR, Lauren had the best hair out of all the girls on The Hills (soz, Heidz). And years later, she's still got it. So what's the Laguna beach bae's secret (and how do we copy?).
"I think it’s important to take days off," Lauren says. "Whether it’s pulling your hair into a low pony or a sleeker, easy hairstyle, it’s good to not style your hair every day. I think – depending on your hair type – not washing your hair every day helps too, since you’re taking away your hair’s natural oils every time you shampoo."
*Based on surface area of hair being more than 3x that of skin.
