In a world largely driven by social media, it can be hard not to obsess over portraying a somewhat perfect illusion of our lives online. In saying this, we've all experienced wanting to airbrush our skin to perfection or add various filters to our pictures on Instagram.
Understandably, sometimes we'd rather not post a photo of our skin at its worst without makeup to the world — and those who suffer from severe acne know it can be a difficult skin condition to deal with. Despite this, one strong teenager has taken to her Instagram page to show people there's nothing wrong with having breakouts.
Hailey Wait, a 17-year-old artist and musician, is embracing her cystic acne to the fullest on Instagram. She's decided to use her social media account, which boasts over 100,000 followers, to post foundation-free selfies — and we think she looks incredible.
Not only does Hailey share images to remind people that acne doesn't make anyone ugly or unattractive — she also encourages others to feel comfortable, even if they suffer from breakouts, through inspirational captions.
Although there are always ways to treat cystic acne, it can really make an impact on your overall mood and self-esteem. So, we're over the moon to find that Hailey is breaking the stigma behind the skin condition.
"I've heard your stories and seen more and more of you embrace yourselves for who you are, and to me, that's the most beautiful thing in the whole world."
Let this be a reminder that everybody is different and beautiful in their own way, no matter what anyone else says.
