Aside from her IDGAF attitude and ability to pair Fashionova and Steve Madden with Alexander Wang flawlessly, for example, here's another reason to love rapper Cardi B: She isn't looking to spend her bankroll on beauty. Especially when supermarket bought foundation can give her skin a flawless finish that any other prestige product could.
Here's how I know this to be true: Cardi's makeup artist Erika La' Pearl recently told Refinery 29,"Before anything, I use a Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($7.99 at Priceline) because I want a clean surface. From there, I apply a little moisturizer and let it dry a little bit. I go on top of that with Anastasia Beverly Hills Hydrating Face Oil and let that sit for a couple minutes. Then I use the Poreless Mattifying Primer from Tarte ($42 at Sephora) to give her foundation a really even look."
La' Pearl's next drugstore secret? She mixes together a few foundations. "Cardi's skin tone is really in-between, like a yellow with a pink undertone," she explains. "Those colours match her perfectly, and I'm usually mixing a lot of different foundations. I mix Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-In-1 Foundation + Concealer in 06 Sand Beige and 09 Tan ($20.50 at Beauty Bay). I also use BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Total Coverage Concealer ($13 at Glam Raider) for her under eyes and spots. I found out about Milani when I had to run to the drugstore, because I didn't have time to go to Sephora to get Nars. It stays in place, though, on the red carpet, at the Grammys, and onstage."
Next, she adds dimension to Cardi's face with the "Nutmeg" and "Copper Brown" shades from Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Medium/Tan ($67 at Sephora). "But before that, I like using Black Opal True Color Skin Perfecting Stick Foundation in Beautiful Bronze on her face and nose," she adds. "She likes her nose to be really contoured. So I do that, and then blend it out with the compact powders."
To finish her look, La' Pearl told Refinery 29 that she line's Cardi's lips with NYX's Slim Lip Pencil in Nutmeg ($7.95 at Priceline). Then she applies Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Mocha ($22 at RY) to fill in her lips, and tops it with a clear gloss. "When she goes red, I use one of Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet colors," she notes.
