PALETTE PORN: These are our 5 favourite makeup palettes right now

Ladies, prime your faces.

By Erin Cook

Here at Cosmo, we love a makeup palette. Highlighting, contouring, eyeshadow, correcting – you name it, we adore it! Heck, we’d shout it from the rooftops if we knew how to get to the top floor of our building.

However, we do understand when one is surfing the internet or meandering through Priceline in search of a new palette, it can be a bit overwhelming. So many aisles, so many options, so little time. We’ve tried and tested a whole bunch of them and here are 5 of our favourites:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Surreal Light

If you enjoy the finer things in life, you’re going to like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light. Enclosed in the white marble compact are two shades of blush, a bronzer, highlighter and a finishing powder. All of the powders have a slight sheen that we can’t get enough of!

This latest Hourglass palette comes in at $116 so it ain’t cheap. But hey – it’s worth keeping in mind in case your boss hands you an end of year bonus. (You’ve earnt it.)

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette

Warning: This palette sent quite a few beauty aficionados into a spin! It sold out at Sephora Australia in record speed but thankfully, they’ve brought it back.

Mega-famous beauty blogger Jaclyn Hill – who has 3.4 million Instagram followers BTW – collaborated with Becca to create this highlighter, blush and bronzer combo.

Our pick of the bunch is the Champagne Pop highlighter. It’s a little bit gold, a little bit rosy with a moderate amount of shimmer. J’adore!

Chloe Morello x Revlon Contouring Palette

Ever heard of vlogger Chloe Morello? … You have? Great!

Of late, Chloe has been busier than Beyoncé, working with Revlon to create this highlighting and contouring palette. Considering she is the reigning ~queen~ of contouring, we trust that this palette is one of the best in the business.

Oh, and at $24.95, it won’t break the bank.

Tarte Swamp Queen Eye & Cheek Palette

There must be something in the water because beauty bloggers and cosmetics companies just won’t. stop. collaborating. This Tarte Swamp Queen Eye & Cheek Palette comes via super vlogger Grav3yardgirl.

(ICYMI: She’s the one who curled her hair using Cheetos.)

The Tarte Swamp Queen Eye & Cheek Palette contains three cheek palettes and nine eyeshadows in a mixture of plums, golds and nudes.

At one point, it was sold out but now it’s back! Buy it here.

Stila Correct and Perfect Palette

Hands up if you’d like perfect skin! While actually achieving perfect skin might be somewhat impossible, this compact from Stila will help to create the illusion.

It contains five creamy colour correctors and two pressed translucent powders for when your skin is acting up. (It’ll also come in handy when you’re suffering through a hangover. Just sayin’.)
