Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t hold back when it comes to talking about her controversial beauty and wellness philosophies. For a start, she’s a fan of blowing hot steam up her vadge and she tans without SPF. So it doesn’t really surprise us that her latest beauty trick also sounds completely insane.
In an interview with the New York Times, Gwyn spoke about how she’s open to trying everything, and that includes being stung by bees in the name of beauty.
"I've been stung by bees. It's a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It's actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it's painful.”
You don’t say?
It’s also kind of dangerous and isn’t backed up by science. But it has been around for many years and according to The American Apitherapy Society Inc., apitherapy can help treat arthritis, wounds, pain and infections, among other conditions.
Doctor Theodore Cherbuliez, a psychiatrist and president of The American Apitherapy Society explained to the LA Times that bees are placed on “trouble spots or along the spine to distribute venom to various parts of the body.”
Gwyn also expressed interest in trying other alternative treatments.
“I haven’t done cryotherapy yet, but I do want to try that.”
While Gwyneth does look totally exceptional (hello, genetics and maybe cray cray treatments), we’ll still pass on all of the above.
