Nailing the perfect selfie is no easy feat. It's a delicate balance of lighting, angles and just the right amount of pout. In fact, we think it could be considered a full-time job. (Selfie queen Kim Kardashian would defs agree!)
While you're in the process of taking a ~flawless~ selfie, have you ever wondered: "How many pictures are other women taking before they post to Instagram?" Same.
US organisation The Florida House recently conducted their #bodypositive survey, quizzing 1,000 men and women on a variety of topics including body positivity, confidence and mainstream media. As part of the survey, TFH also asked participants about their selfie habits.
When it comes to the amount of selfie attempts women make before getting the perfect shot, 48% of us take an average of two to five snaps before we're satisfied. Meanwhile, 28% need a little more variety, taking six to ten pics before making the ultimate decision. Or, if you're one of those rare selfie unicorns who can nail a selfie in one take, you join just 5% of other women.
Okay, so most of us need up to five shots to get a selfie right — but from there, how long do we spend editing them? If you're Chrissy Teigen, you ain't about that editing lyf. However, 44% of women take between one and three minutes to edit their selfie before posting.
For the rest of us, a few minutes won't do. According to the survey, 25% of women take 4 to 6 minutes to edit their selfies, and 21% need ten minutes or more to strike selfie gold.
But it's not a selfie unless it's posted to the 'Gram! So, what about 'likes'? Just under half of the women surveyed admitted that they need two to 20 likes to be satisfied with their selfie. Whereas another 28% of women said they'd need at least 21-41 likes to feel like their selfie mission had been accomplished.
Talk about a tough crowd!
