How-to: Disney Princess hair

Jasmine, Elsa and Ariel hair can now be yours in less than six steps.

By Amelia Bowe

If you didn't already know, we're a little bit obsessed with Disney Princesses. We've seen them reimagined as our fave Clueless characters, with realistic waistlines and of course as Kardashians. And in everything we've seen, there's always one consistent theme – our love for their ~magical~ hair.

So we've recreated three of our all-time ultimate looks in video how-to form so you can wear them IRL. Welcome to a whole new (hairstyle) world.

The Jasmine

What you'll need:

  • A brush
  • Elastics
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair spray
  • Optional: hair band

What to do:

  1. Create a centre part and brush the back section of your hair back.

  1. Smooth your hair into a low ponytail.

  1. Take a small piece of hair from the underside of your ponytail and wrap this around the elastic. Pin underneath.

  1. Repeat this step all the way down your ponytail leaving 3-4 cm gaps between elastics.

  1. Finish with hair spray and a headband.

The Elsa

What you'll need:

  • Dry shampoo
  • Bobby pins
  • A thickening spray
  • Elastics
  • Hair spray
  • Optional: hair bands

What to do:

  1. Spray dry shampoo to create volume.

  1. Create a quiff and pin.

  1. Spritz a thickening spray through the lengths and scrunch as this will help the braid look chunky.

  1. Weave your hair into a loose braid and secure with an elastic.

  1. Gently pull hair out of the braid to loosen.

  1. Finish with hair spray and a headband.

The Ariel

What you'll need:

  • Volumising mousse
  • Blow dryer
  • Velcro rollers
  • Bobby pins
  • Curling wand
  • Brush
  • Hair spray

What to do:

  1. Scrunch volumising mousse through your hair.

  1. Create a deep side part and begin to blow dry.

  1. Take 2-inch wide sections of hair near your roots and wrap them around Velcro rollers and pin. Add heat with the blow dryer.

  1. Once the hair in the rollers has cooled this will mean they’re set in place so you can release them.

  1. Take 2-inch sections of hair and wrap around your hot tong barrel.

HINT: when you release the curls in the top section of your hair, wrap them back up and pin to your scalp. You don’t need to worry about pinning the curls in your lower sections because they’ll be hidden by your bouncy top layers.

  1. Once the curls have cooled, release them and brush. Finish with hair spray.
