How to fix a smashed palette

Because it cost too much to throw out.

By Alexandra Whiting

Is there anything more soul-destroying than dropping your new bronzer and it breaking into a million tiny pieces? It’s OK. It can be fixed.

What you'll need:

  • A broken palette
  • A pen
  • Cling wrap
  • A spray bottle
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • A knife
  • A makeup brush

Step 1

Gather all the pieces into the palette, cover it with cling film and start crushing into smaller pieces with a knife or pen. Careful not to pierce the cling film!

Step 2

Remove the cling film and spray a few squirts of rubbing alcohol on to the broken pieces.

Step 3

The alcohol makes the makeup sponge-like and malleable so you can use a knife to smooth it over.

Step 4

Perfect the edges with one of your makeup brushes, give it a few hours to completely dry and voilà! It never happened. Almost.
