How to save a broken lipstick

HINT: it's easy.

By Alexandra Whiting

If the bullet has snapped, don’t throw it away. Create your own custom-coloured balm instead.

What you'll need:

  • Broken lipstick
  • Hairdryer or microwave
  • Knife
  • Clear lip balm
  • Makeup brush
  • Small, microwave-friendly bowl
  • Empty lip balm pot

Step 1

Break off as much of
the lipstick as you can into a small, microwave-friendly bowl. Use a knife to really get into the base.

Step 2

Add a clear lip balm or shea butter to the bowl (twice as much lip balm as lipstick should do it).

Step 3

Microwave it for 10-20 seconds – until half ot the mixture is melted. Mix out any lumps with the end of a makeup brush.

Step 4

Pour the mixture into an emptied lip balm pot, and leave it in the fridge for a few hours to set.
