The bobby pin hair trend is blowing up and it looks totally stunning

If you’ve dismissed bobby pins as a practical “fix everything” hair tool then you need to take them out of that file and reconsider them as a style statement, because wearing a bobby pin as an actual decorative accessory is officially all the rage.

While we’ve seen OTT bobby pins all over the catwalks for some time now, celeb hairstylists have brought it to the masses in some more wearable ways, cementing its place as a huge trend for 2016.

Suki Waterhouse rocked an incredible faux bob earlier this year where bobby pins helped accentuate her 1920s waves, and now Khloé Kardashian’s worked a sleek ponytail with stacked black bobby pins on The Tonight Show.

Hairstylist Cesar Ramirez created Khloé’s sexy look (which could potentially verge on basic territory without the pins) and we’re obsessed with the colour contrast against her blonde hair.

The key to ensuring they’re not there purely for functionality purposes comes down to making sure they’re OTT on display.

The bonus? Bobby pins were hard to hide in your hair anyway.

We’ve put together a few style options to try so you don’t have to think about it:
