Prepare to bare

Ladies, there’s still time to give yourself a warm-weather makeover so you’re ready to flash some skin.

By Alexis Teasdale

Summer equals hot weather and beach time but it also equals revealing clothing. And lots of it. Cue: panic about hairy legs and seriously pasty skin. Don’t stress though, we’ve got your back when it comes to prepping your body for summer fun. Here's how...

Prepare to wear: leather sandals

Thanks to boots and tights, you can ignore your feet for months. But now they’re on display every day, it’s time to ramp up the TLC. First, scrub your soles with Sally Hansen Pumice Foot Polish, $14.95. Next, dunk your feet into a foot bath filled with OP Therapy Foot Bliss Pedi Soak, $24. It contains essential oils to soothe, and comes with marbles so you can give your feet a massage too. Once dry, slather on Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Foot Cream, $7.99, for a hit of moisture – even better, apply at night then pop on some socks. You’ll barely recognise your soft feet in the morning.

Prepare to wear: strappy tops

We often focus on our pins, so it’s easy to forget our arms need attention too. If you’ve noticed little lumps forming, don’t worry – they are about as common as a crush on R-Gos. Use a body wash with glycolic acid to loosen up blocked pores. Smooth on a body lotion with the same ingredient to give skin a double-dose – try Gatineau Body Lotion with A.H.A., $72, which won’t leave skin greasy. Not ready to get your tan on but still want to give your arms a lick of colour? Choose a non-developing formula like Le Tan Wash Off in Deep Bronze, $14.99. Singlets, come at us.

Prepare to wear: a little bikini

First things first, buff and polish head to toe with
a body brush such as the Manicare Wooden Bath Brush, $13.95. Not only will it sweep away pore-clogging dead skin, it will also stimulate blood flow and leave skin glowing. Next, apply a cellulite-blasting serum to help firm and tone – try Clarins Body Lift Cellulite Smoother, $90. And for a little magic trick, smooth illuminiser down your shins. It will reflect light, making your legs look longer. Try St. Tropez Skin Illuminator in Gold, $29.95 – you can apply it to your entire body as well as your face

Prepare to wear: denim cut offs

Prep your legs for short-shorts by giving them a once-over in the shower
via a grainy scrub such as Sanctuary Spa Salt Scrub, $19.99. It’ll leave skin smooth and help prevent ingrown hairs. Speaking of the fuzz, whisk it away fast with Veet In Shower Hair Removal Cream, $17.99 – by the time you hop out of the shower, your legs will be like new! For the finishing touch, smooth on a gradual tanner such as Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Body Lotion, $8.95. The colour develops slowly, so you won’t go from Casper to Caribbean in a suspicious two minutes.
