Forbes magazine have just released their very first “Top Influencers” list, which includes 30 social media stars who have managed to turn carefully curated YouTube and Instagram accounts into seriously profitable businesses. The list looks at the top influencers within the beauty, fitness and home spheres, revealing that some of these lucky cats can make as much as $300,000 per YouTube video.
Others have Insta audiences greater than the whole population of New York City, which is, well, very influential.
According to this fairly depressing graph created using analytics from social insight platform Captiv8 and influencer analytics firm Traackr, Vloggers with more than seven million subscribers on YouTube, are the ones who can command up to $300,000 for a video partnership.
Even smaller-fry Instagram users can make a decent living off sponsored content. Someone with 100,000 followers can apparently charge around $5000 for a post made in partnership with a brand.
This is not even taking into account that a lot of these influencers also have other multi-million collaborations in the works that don’t live on social media, such as apps, book deals and clothing lines.
The total reach of the influencers in the "Beauty" category alone is 135 million. Who reigns supreme? Zoella. Girls got three books under her belt, a beauty product line, and a cool 11.6 million subscribers on YouTube. Sheesh.
