This woman switched her regular cleanser for micellar and completely cleared up her acne

Micellar water FTW!

By Erin Cook

Micellar water isn’t new. In fact, it was developed in France more than 100 years ago. However, it’s still kicking around as a tried-and-tested French girl method of removing every scrap of makeup before bedtime.

As Reddit user mollsballsss found out, micellar can also calm aggravated skin and reduce the appearance of acne.

A year ago, mollsballsss was suffering from painful acne so she decided to shake up her skincare routine. Instead of washing her face with ‘facial soap’ she switched to ‘luke-warm water’ in the morning, followed by Garnier Micellar Water at night.

The results? Well, they speak for themselves.

Micellar waters are typically an all-in-one cleanser with a consistency similar to your regular, straight-out-of-the-tap H2O. To apply, use a cotton pad to wipe the formula across skin and remove any build-up of makeup and other products. The added benefit of using a micellar is that it’s really easy – there’s no need to rinse off.

Reddit user mollsballsss used Garnier’s Micellar Water, $13.99, at Priceline with great success. (The pictures speak for themselves!) If you want to treat your skin to something a bit more ~fancy~, try Bioderma Sensibio H2O, $42.99, at While it is more expensive, the Bioderma formula has a cult following the world over.
