Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn had a little get together Monday in New York City. No, the four BFFs didn’t hold a super-important meeting to discuss Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3, but they might as well have. Blake, America, and Alexis were in town to support Amber at the premiere of her directorial debut, Paint It Black. It was a joyous occasion involving group photos and pretty spring dresses. There was even a cake at some point.
In fact, the evening was so sweet America almost couldn't handle it. Here is evidence of her heart "bursting":
As Sisterhood fans know by now, any time these four get together, the immediate assumption is that they’re working on the third movie, which has been teased and lightly discussed for the last several years.
These silly faces? This will probably make it to the third film, right?
This brunch selfie? Definitely a major plotline in Sisterhood 3. (Also, R.I.P. Preserve).
This trip to Broadway in support of a fellow sister? This can be another plotline.
This Women’s March snap? This movie is already writing itself.
Last June, Blake stirred the Sisterhood plot again when she suggested a “strong chance” of a third movie during a radio interview with Entertainment Weekly. “The four of us are still best friends and to be able to create something together again has always been a dream of ours; but it would have to be something that really made sense. If you waited this long to do a third movie, it needs to honor the story and the legacy.” Yes, Blake, it has been a long time — 12 years since the first and nine since the second.
In November, Alexis confirmed that the group does in fact talk about it, which only makes me think “talking about it” is really the four of them getting together to plan what other teasers they can drop from now until 2021 or whenever they decide to finally do it. “We’re working on it. We’ll see what happens.”
