The new season of Channel 10's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here has begun, and last night's episode absolutely broke hearts across the nation.

Casey Donovan, the girl who rose to fame at the age of 16 after winning 2004's Australian Idol, appears on the current series, and last night opened up about being catfished.

During the episode, Casey, 28, explained how her first relationship, became an absolute nightmare to fellow campmates Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Ash Pollard.

"Catfishing is when you’re tricked into a relationship," Casey explained. "So a girl was pretending to be a guy, and that guy was the guy I was speaking to."

The entire charade began after Casey's Australian Idol win, which the singer explains was a very lonely time and involved being alone in hotel rooms.

"So I got a call one night, just started chatting to this guy, who was supposed to come to the airport. [He] didn’t come. And this was after like a week and a half of talking on the phone every day."

"Then when I got back for good, he was supposed to come pick me up but then his best friend came, this chick."

Since she was so young at the time and thrilled with the idea of first love, Casey explains that she decided to befriend the woman claiming to be her boyfriend's best friend, which lasted for six years.

"It started at 16, I’d never had a boyfriend, I was always the kid that was a bit different, no one was ever interested in me."

Casey added: "And this guy was telling me that he loved me."

Casey went on to explain that the woman, was behind all the phone calls and could mimic the voice of a male.

Eventually, her ex-manager broke the news to Casey, who at the time knew something wasn't right, but was still trying to come to terms with the emotional abuse she was experiencing.

"I was trying to get out of it because I needed to prove to myself that I wasn’t stupid, I couldn’t let someone do this to me nor could someone be so nasty as to do that to someone."

"Because I’m not stupid, and I thought someone had loved me for me, and it was hard to find out it was all a lie."

Following her incredibly honest story, viewers of the show tweeted their support for Casey:
