Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande may have just confirmed their engagement after just a few shorts weeks of dating, though what many don't realise is that both Grande and Davidson recently got out of long-term relationships — like, really long.
Grande had been dating rapper Mac Miller for almost two years—publicly debuting their relationship in August 2016 — while Davidson had been dating Cazzie David for a comparable amount of time.
According to The Cut, Cazzie and Pete met on the set of Saturday Night Live in 2015 when Cazzie's dad, the legendary, Larry David, was hosting.
Following their first meeting, the pair made their Instagram debut as a couple in this very cute snap in April 2016 and acted consistently adorable together for full two years after that.
Although Cazzie is obviously not as well-known as Pete's current love interest, she does have a significant amount of experience in the spotlight.
Cazzie is both an actress and executive producer. Not to mention, it's pretty damn cool that one of the funniest men in Hollywood is her father, meaning a good sense of humour is practically hereditary.
On dating Larry David's daughter, Davidson said in a 2016 interview with People, "I just love her very, very much." And also praised the Seinfield creator, saying "He's the sweetest man in the world, he's the coolest. We get along really well."
Davidson continued, "I listen to everything [Larry David] says very carefully because you want to retain it all."
Cazzie posted the above photo of the pair together looking loved up at the beginning of May, but Pete revealed that the couple had parted ways during an interview with Complex only two weeks later.
"We're not together anymore," he said when asked about his relationship in mid-May. "Very talented girl, she'll be great and she'll be fine," he added.
Two weeks after that interview, Davidson and Grande made their romance Instagram official.
Cazzie has stayed quiet on social media since the news of Pete and Ariana's relationship went public, but the day after the couple made their social media debut, Cazzie uploaded an image of herself on safari, casually captioning the post, "Been in Africa, what'd I miss ??"
After news of Davidson and Grande's rush engagement was released, Cazzie uploaded another photo of herself at a winery, alongside the words, "Came to wine country a person, leaving a human bottle of wine."
Seems like Cazzie is handling things just fine, with her signature brand of humour.
