Cole Sprouse was about to quit acting before landing role of Jughead on 'Riverdale'

Perish the very thought...

He plays the adorably awks Jughead on our current TV ~obsession~ Riverdale, but Cole Sprouse has revealed the shocking news that if it weren’t for being cast in the hit series, he may have never returned to the small screen.

Speaking to Wonderland Magazine, our boyfriend Cole spilled that after five years out of the spotlight (where he went off to college with twin bro Dylan Sprouse), he was ready to throw in the towel on his acting career if he didn’t land a job within seven days.

"I went over to California from New York for a single week and I told my manager, 'If I don’t book anything this pilot season I’m never coming back to this,'" he said. "I just pulled the trigger on it and said, 'Alright, f—k it, let’s see how it goes.'"

Lucky for him (and us too, tbh) he landed the role of Jughead and the rest, as they say, was history.

“It felt like a role that I could really dive into,” he says of his adorably nerdy character. “Of course I’m pulling off of lived experience for the character as well. There comes a real loneliness in celebrity where you’re constantly told you’re part of an out group in your own society,” he says referring to his rise to fame on Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

We don’t even wanna imagine Riverdale without Cole as Jughead, ‘cos then who would we obsess over?! (Besides the equally baben' KJ Apa, obvs).
