She’s never one to shy away from discussing her mental health issues and her battle with an eating disorder, so when singer Demi Lovato uploaded a sponsored post promoting diet detox tea to her ‘gram, fans were confused AF.
Holding up the tea in the snap, the Cool for the Summer beauty wrote,
"This year is all about #selflove. Truly taking care of myself and exercising has changed everything for me. @teamiblends has #sponsored my 30 day detox challenge to help get rid of toxins and my bloating for summer."
She also provided a discount code for followers to receive the tea for 20% off.
Fans were quick to call out the starlet, with some commenters even revealing that they suffered an eating disorder and found the post triggering.
The effectiveness of so-called ‘diet teas’ has often been called in to question, with nutritionist Renee Leonard-Stainton, founder of reneenaturally.com revealing that while the tea can have you shedding kilos – it’s mostly from dehydration and unlikely to last.
“There’s nothing wrong with the products in the teatox in the short-term – but I wouldn’t advise anyone to be taking them for a long period of time,” she said.
Meanwhile, Teami, the company sponsoring Demi’s posts, looked to be throwing some cheeky shade at critics, posting this on their Insta:
Demi has yet to respond to her followers, but it looks like she’ll need to do some damage control ASAP!
