He's in love and he wants the world to know.

Ed Sheeran has found true love, and it's a beautiful thing.

This time last year, Ed told us via Instagram that he was about to take a year off.

Ed stuck to his word and ditched all press, social media and basically fell off the face of the earth - for the cutest reason ever.

While chatting with Beats 1/Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Ed explained how time off allowed him to "fall in love properly" with high school pal - and current girlfriend - Cherry Seaborn.

"This has been the first time I’ve actually had the time to fall in love properly," Ed revealed.

"So the catalyst of taking a year off was also the fact that my partner quit her job in New York—which she’s now got back in London, which is really cool—but we were just basically like, let’s quit our jobs and have a year of forming a tight bond. So we went traveling and spent every day for a year together."

In case you thought too much time with bae was a recipe for disaster, think again: "I’ve probably had three days apart from her in the last year…but we’re very, very strong," Ed said.

"I’ve never been happier. I’ve never been more comfortable. I’ve never been more inspired. I feel like everything’s fallen into place, and it’s fallen into place because I’ve given it the time to fall into place."

So who is this lucky girl?

Ed and his high school friend Cherry reconnected in September 2015. Cherry studied at Duke University where she was a star hockey player. The two have kept their relationship pretty quiet over the last year and a bit, but did very publically celebrate their 1st anniversary during Taylor Swift's huge 4th July party last year.

During the recent interview, Ed was also asked about being a dad.

"Massively,” he said. "I wanted to be a dad, like, last year. I’m ready, let’s go–tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around."

2017 could most definitely be the year of lil Sheerans and we're here for it.
