Recently, Ed Sheeran opened up about his struggle with substance abuse. While promoting his most recent album, he visited The Jonathan Ross Show and got real AF about everything.
He revealed, "I think you need to, when you get into the industry, adjust to it - and I didn't adjust because I was constantly working on tour. And all the pitfalls that people read about... I just found myself slipping into all of them. Mostly, like, substance abuse."
Although he openly discussed his substance abuse, he also admits that the two things that helped him through this hard time were his girlfriend and music.
“I focused on work, and I can’t work under the influence, I can’t write songs under the influence, I can’t perform under the influence — so the more I worked the less [that happened], he said. "I've worked my whole life to get to where I am and you can't lose that over something that you do in your spare time." Ed also claims that his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, "pulled him back from the darker side of fame" and that they are happily living together now.
This is just another reminder that being a star is definitely not as easy as it looks, and even stars as famous as Ed have real af struggles.
