'Westworld' actress Evan Rachel Wood reveals she’s been sexually assaulted twice

I don’t believe we live in a time where people can stay silent any longer.

After the 2016 Presidential election, Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood alluded to having suffered sexual assault in an interview with Rolling Stone.

The 29-year-old has since released the complete email, where she wrote: "I’ve been raped... I don’t believe we live in a time where people can stay silent any longer. Not given the state our world is in with its blatant bigotry and sexism."

The actress writes how she struggled to believe what actually occurred the first time it happened, "I was unsure that if it was done by a partner it was still in fact rape," adding, "also who would believe me."

The second time she was raped by the "owner of a bar", explaining, "I thought it was my fault and that I should have fought back more."

In the original interview conducted by Alex Morris, Evan briefly mentioned her how these factors led to her attempted suicide at age 22:

These are all things, she says, that she has experienced since she realized at age four or five she was attracted to women. Her suicide attempt at 22 “was, weirdly, the best-worst thing that ever happened to me. ‘Cause it did not work.” She’s more circumspect about the abuse, but admits it was “physical, psychological, sexual.

Considering the current state of the world, Evan, like many other women has realised staying silent about something that needs to be talked about is no longer an option.

"I am still standing. I am alive. I am happy. I am strong. But I’m still not ok," the letter reads. "It's not that you can't get over it, it's just that you are never the same, or maybe I just haven't gotten there yet."
