It’s hard to imagine Ed Sheeran as anything other than the world-famous megastar he is today, but apparently there was a time that our fave ginger had to crash on mates' couches to get by – just ask Jamie Foxx.
Hitting up The Graham Norton Show for a guest appearance, the actor spilled a cracker of a story about old Teddy that had us LOLing at the absolute absurdity of it all.
“Ed Sheeran slept on my couch for six weeks before he was famous,” he revealed to the host. “I was doing a radio show in L.A. and he knew that we do music so he came to my radio show.”
He continued on to say that after hearing some of Ed’s ~dreamy~ tunes, he realised how obviously ahh-mazing he was and decided to let the Brit babe crash at his pad for while.
“I said, ‘listen, I know you don’t have anywhere to go, just chill here. I was giving him food and ‘my daughter was like ‘who do you have over here now?'”
“I took him down to this show I was doing every Monday … and there was like 800 black people. Just the best musicians… [then] he pops out with his little red hair and a ukulele … and he went out there on that ukulele and got a standing ovation for 12 minutes.”
“The rest is history,” he added.
Sorry, but if the image of a shy lil Eddy on stage with a ukulele doesn’t give you life, then you probs have no soul and we feel bad for you.
Joking. But let’s be real - major props to Jamie for being a damn good bloke and helping us discover Ed and his sweet, sweet tunes.
You da real MVP.
