Katy Perry isn't done calling out Taylor Swift for "trying to assassinate my character"

This beef is still very much on the grill.

Katy Perry is still going on the record about her longstanding beef with Taylor Swift, this time accusing Tay of trying to "assassinate" her character.

In a new interview with NME, the Chained to the Rhythm singer explained her reasons for talking about the dramz during her cameo on the Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke with host James Corden saying she felt justified standing up for herself.

“Well, James Corden makes me and the whole world feel very safe,” Perry explains. “No one has asked me about my side of the story, and there are three sides of every story: one, two, and the truth.”

“I mean, I’m not Buddha -- things irritate me,” she says. “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]. That’s so messed up!”

It’s hard to believe now but these two were once actually pals and not even dating the same dude – John Mayer – could tear them apart. But in 2013 when Perry hired backup dancers from Swift’s tour Taylor reportedly did not take it well, according to Perry, and the former country-singer enlisted one of Perry’s closest songwriters, Max Martin, to write the 2014 hit Bad Blood – a song widely believed to be about Perry.

Perry told NME she and Max are fine and says he was unaware of what he was being dragged into.

“I can’t speak for [Max], but he didn’t know [who ‘Bad Blood’ was about],” Perry said. “I’m not supposed to tell him what he can and can’t do. I’m very fair; I’m super-duper fair and I’m not one of those people who’s like, ‘You can’t do that because I don’t like that person’. Just, like, you do you, make your own choices.”

“I love Max,” she adds. “I’ve been working with Max my whole career. I’m not his mother and he was fine before I met him, you know what I’m saying? He’ll be fine continuing.”

But it's not all fighting words; Katy has also said recently she's been open to making up.

In a radio interview with SiriusXM the hosts asked, “If [Taylor] called right now or FaceTimed you right now and she’s listening, would you pick up?"

“Absolutely,” Katy replied. Then she continued with her spiel of how the world needs women to band together, not be against each other: “By the way, I am ready, because I think when women unite, the world is going to heal.”

It seems Katy is willing to make peace if Taylor is?

Despite Katy’s recent public statements about the feud Taylor has stayed pretty hush hush on her side of the story of late – instead she seems pretty happy to be chilling with rumoured new beau, Joe Alwyn.

But, knowing Taylor we will her about all this in a song sometime soon.
