The internet is currently dragging Riverdale stars KJ Apa and Charles Melton after a series of fat-shaming behaviour has resurfaced Twitter.

It all started when a fan uncovered some seriously fucked up tweets on Charles' account from back in 2012 where he attacks 'fat chicks' and what they can wear.

"Fat chicks need to understand that wearing yoga pants is a privilege, not a right," and "I find it hilarious when fat people say they need to start eating right. When they have already mastered the art of chewing and swallowing."

Melton has since turned his account on private to avoid backlash, but not before one fan could grab screenshots of the offending comments:

Naturally, Twitter is legit raging at his tone deaf tweets, and also slammed his decision to put his account on private instead of deleting what he wrote:

Melton has since apologised in a statement to Entertainment Tonight calling his comments "immature, offensive and inappropriate".

"I'm truly sorry for making inconsiderate comments several years ago and apologize to anyone I hurt. What I posted and said was immature, offensive and inappropriate."

"I am ashamed of how I acted and there is no excuse for that behavior," Melton's statement continued. "I'm striving to do better and will use this experience to grow, helping others to understand how these types of statements are completely unacceptable."

KJ Apa's also come under attack for being friends with Charles and exhibiting similar fat-shaming behaviour.

Another fan uploaded a screenshot which showed KJ's account liking a comment that read "Making fun of fat people is the only thing that's gonna stop those useless bags of shit dying a fat early death":

KJ's yet to address the comments but it looks like fans aren't waiting around to dub the duo 'cancelled'.
