It’s like all our TV fantasies have come true…

In what is seriously the BEST celebrity news ever, Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen are engaged!! OK, so maybe the characters from Gossip Girl and The OC aren’t actually together IRL, but their actors, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, are and they’re getting married.

It’s like the 16-year-old girl within us has died and gone to heaven - two of our favourite TV shows have practically come to life.

The lovebirds co-starred in the 2011 rom-com The Oranges where sparks obvs flew and went public with their relationship in February of this year. While there’s no question they’re totally besotted with each other, Adam’s proposal earlier this week came as a shock to Leighton.

A source told Star magazine: "Leighton and Adam are crazy about each other and have talked about getting married eventually. But she had no idea when he would propose so soon. It was the surprise of her life and she's ecstatic!"

The pair plan to get married next summer and are tossing up between a destination wedding or a southern Californian wedding. Is anyone else thinking that either the upper eastside in New York or Orange County could be great wedding options?

Call us nerds, but we’ve assessed some of our fave Gossip Girl and The OC quotes for signs that Seth and Blair – er, we mean Adam and Leighton we’re always destined for one another…

“They say if you hate something you should slam the door in its face.” - Blair

“I listen to the same music as Marissa Cooper? I think I have to kill myself.” - Seth

“Dan Humphrey actually lent a hand. It was nice to see him get his hands dirty for once. Not sure how much fun he had, though. No one enjoys their first time.” - Blair

“Oh, look, it's somebody's birthday. I guess my invitation probably got lost in the mail.” - Seth

“Don't worry, I can be bitch enough for both of us.” - Blair

“So, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the urinals!” - Seth

“I get what I want, Serena. Just like I'm gonna win tonight.” - Blair

The dry wit, the irony – it was inevitable that these two would get together, right? Now, who’s up for a Gossip Girl/The OC marathon to celebrate?
