Australia watched their whole love story unfold on Married At First Sight, from meeting at the alter to moving inter-state for each other, but it seems that now Sharon and Nick’s fairytale is over.

They locked eyes on each other for the first time as Sharon, and her identical twin sister Michelle, walked down the aisle to their respective ‘expertly matched’ husbands-to-be. From then on, Sharon and Nick were clear front runners throughout Married At First Sight, they were happy, touchy-feely and even dropped the L-Bomb on the show.

In the series finale, they were one of two couples that decided to stay together after their on-screen experimental marriage.

Since then, there have been a flurry of Instagram snaps and public appearances from the two as a solid couple, and Sharon even moved from her hometown in Perth to Nick’s home in Melbourne.

But it seems that was where their problems began…

Sharon spoke to New Idea about the move, saying, “I love Nick, but after moving to Melbourne to be with him, I soon realised that I’m not in love with him.”

This realisation was paired with huge pangs of homesickness that Sharon was having for Perth.

“I had a constant ache in my chest and it didn’t feel like I’d made the right decision,” she says. “I missed everything about home – my dog, my sister, my parents.”

Nick, apparently, is devastated about Sharon’s decision. “It broke my heart,” he told New Idea. “I started to shake and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I fell hard and fast and gave it my all.”

Sharon posted an Instagram picture potentially reveal a little of her heartache, saying “Things don’t always go the way you hope.”

With this split, Married At First Sight have achieved a 100 per cent failure rate when it comes to this seasons arranged marriages.

Perhaps the best way to find love isn’t by getting hitched to a stranger on television? Back to Tinder we go…
