Margot Robbie has transformed into murder victim Sharon Tate

By Susannah Guthrie

Margot Robbie, your friendly neighbourhood chameleon, has added another transformation to her resume: Hollywood murder victim Sharon Tate.

After successfully becoming Queen Elizabeth I and figure skater Tonya Harding, Robbie has morphed into the 60s starlet, who was brutally killed by the Manson family in 1969 while eight-and-a-half months pregnant.

Margot is playing Sharon in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

The 28-year-old Gold Coast gal shared the first snap of herself in costume and good lord did the casting directors nail this.

For reference, here's a photo of the real Sharon Tate. Uncanny.

The movie tells the tale of the Manson Family murders through the eyes of Tate's neighbour, a TV actor struggling to make it big in Hollywood.

The Manson Family was a creepy 1960s cult lead by singer-songwriter Charles Manson, who enticed around 100 followers, mostly young women, to join his commune and then convinced them to commit horrendous crimes.

Margs isn't the only actress to tackle the iconic role ...Hilary Duff also played Sharon for a movie titled The Haunting of Sharon Tate, which looks at the actress's final days from her perspective.

Knowing Quentin Tarantino, Margot's movie will likely be gruesomely violent and critically acclaimed. We can't wait.
