Margot Robbie's Suicide Squad workout routine was INTENSE

She trained for THREE HOURS per day.

It’s official: Margot Robbie’s new film Suicide Squad has hit cinemas!

In it, Robbie plays Harley Quinn – an unhinged supervillain who gets around in heels, teeny-tiny shorts and a ripped t-shit. You only have to take one look at the actress to realise that a banging body like that takes WORK.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan.com, Robbie’s personal trainer Andie Hecker revealed the details of her gruelling exercise regime. Namely, in the two weeks leading up to Robbie’s (almost) naked scene, she worked out for up to three hours per day.

Yep, THREE HOURS. (Considering we think three hours of binge watching Pretty Little Liars to be exhausting, that’s no easy feat!)

During their workouts, Hecker had Robbie doing a supercharged Pilates routine with increased reps and an extra-wide range of motion. In addition to that, she did a ballet-inspired circuit that included ballet jumps, skipping and a rebounder (read: mini-trampoline). And if that wasn’t enough, the Aussie actress also swam laps!

"It was very important to me to keep her regiment well-rounded in order to condition the entire body and not overwork any one muscle group," Hecker said.

While Robbie’s workout regime may not have been for the faint-hearted, her diet was something we can really get on board with. Why? She didn’t have to restrict her calories! Hecker wanted to make sure the actress had enough energy to fuel her workouts. Also, being thin wasn’t the end goal as it’s Robbie’s curves that make her look like a “sexy badass.”

We’re tired from just thinking about all that hard work. Now that filming is over, we hope Robbie gets to enjoy some well-earned couch time!
