Nick Cummins was "the most depressed he's been" before 'The Project' interview

The Honey Badger required emotional assistance on set.

It's an understatement to say Nick 'The Honey Badger' Cummins' public image has been troubled ever since he decided not to choose either of the two remaining girls on The Bachelor Australia finale, but his latest interview may just have salvaged his reputation.

Nick appeared on The Project on Sunday in a pre-recorded interview (he pulled out of a live appearance last minute) and basically defended the hell out of himself and potentially convinced all of Australia he's not the shit bloke they've made him out to be.

Watch his interview below:

But according to host Tommy Little, Nick wasn't in a great way when he filmed the chat, after returning from doing the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea.

Tommy said Nick almost didn't want to do the interview all together. "Honestly he's a beautiful man! It's the most depressed he's been. It was heartbreaking to see!" Tommy told viewers.

"He was genuinely so nervous... he wouldn't have been able to do the interview live I don't think. Otherwise he would have probably freaked out and said fuck on-air!"

Tommy also said Nick has support from two assistants on set and kept stopping the interview to ask the hosts if his answers were acceptable.

During filming, the Daily Mail reported a Channel 10 crew member told the audience Nick, "decided last minute he didn't want to speak in front of an audience" and is "not doing well".

At the end of the day, being true to yourself and your values is the most important thing and for that, we salute the Badge. Hope you're OK, buddy.
