“My circumstances have put me in a place where I’m not in control of what my body looks like.”

Recently, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland became the target of online bullies criticising her apparent weight loss. Hyland was so moved by the comments, she felt the need to respond.

It all started when Hyland posted this picture to Instagram, with the caption: “Sherwood (and nothing else) looks good on me. Buy a shirt and a portion of the proceeds go to the Anti-Bullying Alliance!”

Hyland was hoping to raise money for the Anti-Bullying Alliance, but instead, her figure became the number one topic of conversation in the comments. She addressed the concerns about her weight via two Tweets.

“I’d like to address something that has not only been brought up on Twitter but has been HEAVILY discussed by all of you in my Instagram comments,” she began. “That something is my weight.”

“I don’t normally comment on things like this because it draws attention to those trying to spread negativity but I’m here to explain a few things and spread love. Here goes… I haven’t had the greatest year. Maybe one day I’ll talk about it but for now, I’d like my privacy.”

“I will say this year has brought a lot of changes and with that, physical changes,” Hyland continues, before explaining that she has been unable to work due to health concerns.

“I am not a fan of ‘being skinny.’ Which many of you have told me that I am too much of. ‘Eat a burger’ ‘Your head is bigger than your body and that’s disgusting.’”

“My circumstances have put me in a place where I’m not in control of what my body looks like. So I strive to be as healthy as possible, as everyone should,” Hyland said.

Thinking of you Sarah! Here’s hoping the Modern Family star feels better soon.
