Teddy Geiger makes her first public appearance since her transition

The For You I Will singer revealed she was transitioning on social media in October.

Singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger has made her first red carpet debut after confirming that she has transitioned from male to female.

Six-months after coming out to fans as transgender, the 29-year-old attended the 2018 BMI Pop Awards on Tuesday (May, 8) in Beverly Hills where she was recognised for co-writing Shawn Mendes' bangers Mercy and There's Nothing Holdin Me Back.

After being asked nicely about her changing appearance by a fan on Instagram the music star, who is most famous for hits like For You I Will and These Walls, revealed she was "transitioning".

"I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it's given me the courage to start the process," she wrote on social media. "I feel like the next step is to tell all y'all. So here, it goes. Love it or hate [it] this is who I have been for a [long] time. I love u guys."

Apparently, Geiger has spent the last few months on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and her social media indicates she's been experimenting with some fiyah hair lewks 🔥.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Gieger's friend and musical collaborater, Shawn Mendes (who ICYMI made his red carpet debut with GF Hailey Baldwin at the Met Gala on Monday) made it clear he's supporting his friend.

"I'm so grateful to be going through this process with her because I'm learning so much from it," he said.

He continued, "I wish everyone could experience this, because if they did, there would be no questions. There would be no 'I don't get it,' no confusion about the process."
