Kesha: Post-rehab treatment for an eating disorder, Kesha has dropped the dollar sign from her name and hit the red carpet looking her best yet. She wore a sheer, backless dress to the Humane Society of the United States' 60th anniversary gala, team with her pastel, rainbow hair. The singer's friend told People magazine Kesha has ditched the negative influencers she used to surround herself with, so we’re anticipating a major comeback.

Amanda Bynes: Amanda’s downward spiral began when she was ticketed for talking on her phone while driving in March 2012. Then she was arrested for drunk driving and two hit and run incidents. In May 2013, she was arrested for possession of marijuana after throwing a bong from her window (claiming it was a vase). Soon, she was involuntarily committed to a psych ward, diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent six months in rehab. Although she’s retired from acting, she’s enrolled at the Fashion Insititute of Design and Merchandising in LA (and is reportedly an ace at it).

Britney Spears: Few members of Gen Y could forget the day their world came crashing down, when news broke that Britney had had a mental breakdown, shaved her head and taken an umbrella to a paparazzi car’s windows. Despite her ongoing personal issues, including an involuntary stay in a psychiatric ward, she continued to achieve success with her fifth studio album Blackout, a guest stint on How I Met Your Mother and a documentary chronicling her industry comeback. Now she’s got a residency at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas.

Demi Lovato: The former Disney actress entered rehab for “emotional and physical issues” in late 2010 after a fight with a back-up dancer. When she left three months later, Demi revealed she suffered from bipolar disorder, eating disorders and cutting. She was also a cocaine addict, even smuggling it onto planes so she could get a fix mid-flight. Now the singer is a judge on the US The X Factor, has released a book and an album, which she’s currently touring the world for.

Drew Barrymore: Child star Drew entered rehab at 13 after skyrocketing to fame post-E.T. Although she came from a showbiz family, the pressures of fame had her resorting to cigarettes from age nine, alcohol by 11, marijuana at 12 and cocaine at 13. She bounced back in the early ‘90s, carved out a niche for herself in quirky rom-coms and is going to give birth to her second child any minute now.

Lindsay Lohan: When family dramas got in the way of the former child star’s career she began burning the candle at both ends and earned a name for herself on-set as being unprofessional. She entered rehab for alcohol abuse and exhaustion three times between 2006 and 2008, and her career went downhill. In 2010, she had more legal trouble, violated probation and entered jail and rehab for short stints. After another 90 days in rehab last year, Oprah took the undeniably talented starlet under her wing, producing a reality show about Linds. From all reports, LiLo is bouncing back in a big way.

Mary-Kate Olsen: Shortly after the famous twins received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mary-Kate entered rehab for six weeks for treatment of anorexia nervosa. Her publicist has since denied reports that she entered rehab for a drug addiction, but the sibling duo are at the top of their game after receiving critical acclaim for their The Row designs. She’s just become engaged to investment banker Olivier Sarkozy and scored a whopping $81,000 vintage Cartier ring.

Michelle Rodriguez: Before she was Cara’s lover, she was the troubled tomboy star of Lost and the Fast & Furious franchise. She took her place in the series a little too seriously though, and was arrested a number of times for driving under the influence and speeding, most often in Hawaii while filming Lost. Despite clocking up plenty of community service, a few days jail time and a stint in rehab, she’s one of the most iconic and successful actresses of the action genre.

Mischa Barton: Mischa (aka Marissa Cooper) was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and driving without a valid license in December 2007. Two years later, she was involuntarily held in a psych ward after getting into a fight with the nurses when she refused to receive a needle for a tooth infection. Late last year, she revealed the incident was part of a mental breakdown she experienced. In 2012, she played Shelby in the stage adaptation of Steel Magnolias and received critic’s praise, and has chalked up a dozen roles for 2014.

Nicole Richie: The adopted daughter of crooner Lionel Richie, Nicole was arrested for heroin possession in 2003 during production of the first season of The Simple Life. She headed to rehab and cleaned up her act, but was arrested in 2006 for driving on the wrong side of the freeway, under the influence of Vicodin and marijuana. She began dating Joel Madden later than year and fell pregnant with daughter Harlow in 2007. Now she’s got her own fashion empire, written two books and is married with two very cute kids.

Selena Gomez: The pop star and Disney actress shocked fans when she revealed she'd been in rehab in January, voluntarily, in order to "get herself together". Some believed it was Biebs that drove her to that point, although her camp denies the rumours. She spent two weeks in a centre that specialises in young people struggling with emotional trauma and addiction. If her knock-out appearance at the Oscars after party is anything to go by, she's got her head together now.
