FACT: Tom Hardy has no time for misogynistic bullsh*t.
Just when we were starting to see all the men’s rights activist groups disappear until the next “feminist piece of propaganda posing as a guy flick" comes along, a reporter at Cannes has tried to start another oh-no-he-didn’t-just-ask that question.
At a panel for Mad Max :Fury road in Cannes over the weekend, a journalist decided to see if he could start up a bit of banter with Tom over the topic of too many females taking over the film. heavy sarcasm present
From the Toronto Star, critic Peter Howell gets the eye roll ball rolling with this ridiculous disclaimer, “I have five sisters, a wife, a daughter and a mother so I know what it's like to be outgunned by oestrogen."
"I just wanted to ask you, as you were reading the script did you ever think 'why are all these women in here. I thought this was supposed to be a man's movie?'"
Yup. He went there.
To which Tom initially replies with a classic “da fuq?!” expression followed by a simple, "No! Not for one minute!"
The audience then applauds Tom’s noble answer and even Charlize - who’s dealt with enough sexist bs during the film’s promotional tour - chimes in with a "Good for you!"
It’s one of those moments where you just really want to give Tom Hardy a high five.
