Zayn slammed after asking fans for money

They're NOT happy

He may have had the best intentions at heart, but former One Direction babe Zayn Malik has been blasted by his legions of followers after appealing over social media for donations.

Reaching out to his 21.8 million followers, the Pillow Talk hit maker urged followers to help fundraise AU$205,000 for Ayesha Butt, his mum’s best friend who has terminal lung cancer and hoping to trial a treatment only found in Istanbul.

In Ayesha’s Go Fund Me page, she describes how she was diagnosed with cancer in 2015.

“My name is Ayesha Daniels and I’m a 47-year-old divorced, single parent to my wonderful 15-year-old daughter who is also named Ayesha after myself. She is my whole world as I am hers. I too, am an only child to my wonderful parents Camellia and Shahid Butt, making us a small close knit family of 4.Our life was good ...that was until September 2015.That’s when the words that no person ever wants to hear came, and that was “You have cancer.” The diagnosis was incurable, inoperable, metastatic (already spread) non-small cell lung cancer. It was stage three, in my lymph nodes and also pancreas.”

Fans were quick to react to the singer asking for their help, with many questioning why he wasn’t forking out the cash himself when he’s worth an estimated AU$51 million.

Meanwhile, others praised Z for spreading the word, with many even donating their hard-earned dosh to the cause.

At the current time, Ayesha's fundraising page has currently risen AU$26,424 of it’s AU$206,470 goal.
