Gisele Bündchen says she was "misunderstood" when she made comments recently about young models using Instagram.
The 37-year-old supermodel was talking to Vogue for its July issue when she explained her younger sister was the one who signed her up for Instagram in the first place.
"If it was me, it would only be pictures of sunsets," Gisele said. "It's not my generation—I have to be honest about that."
She went on add, "I'm older, wiser. If I had to promote myself in the way girls modeling now have to do, forget it. I wouldn't do it."
Unsurprisingly, when the interview was published, the former Victoria's Secret Angel—who loves a selfie BTW—started to cop backlash with some people taking offence to the idea that the Brazilian-born model was suggesting she was more intelligent than the models of today.
On Thursday (June 14, 2018) the model backtracked and tweeted a statement saying, "I'm sorry that my words in my most recent Vogue article were misunderstood."
She went on, "My intention was simply to express that I come from an older generation and am not technologically savvy. I admire the younger generation and their skill to manage all the added demand of social media. I certainly never feel that I am wiser than anyone, and I believe that we are all learning."
